This framed original oil painting comes from my 'FOR THE BIRDS' Collection, and was selected as a Finalist in the Next Big Thing Art Prize, by Toowoomba Gallery and is all about that quiet little moment when everything just feels right—fresh flowers on the table, a bit of morning light, and two curious rosellas dropping by. I loved painting the soft blues and buttery yellows of their feathers, especially against the bold pops of red and deep blue in the flowers. There’s something really satisfying about the mix of wild and arranged—like nature stepping into a still life. The glass jug is one of my favourites to paint—simple, clear, grounding—and the little blue bowl and fallen petals add that touch of everyday chaos I find beautiful. It’s a calm, joyful piece that captures a pause in time, before the birds flutter off again. Enjoy!
