This piece is part of my French landscape series, created during my artist residency in the medieval village of Noyers, Burgundy. Inspired by the quiet drama of the region’s patchworked fields and soft, shifting skies, this work captures the mood of early spring—where the land rolls gently under a wash of cloud and colour.
Layers of acrylic and watercolour form the base, with expressive marks in Caran d’Ache pastel adding texture and rhythm—echoing furrowed fields, stone terraces, waterways, lakes and distant hills. There’s a sense of watching weather gather and disperse over land that’s been shaped for centuries.
Each piece in this series is a small meditation—on place, season, and the subtle poetry of landscape.
